MAILONLINE - Lewis Hamilton admitted on the eve of the Bahrain Grand Prix that he had effectively 'sacked' his father.
After 12 days of pretence that Anthony Hamilton had mutually agreed with his son to cease managing his career, the truth that surfaced on Saturday illustrates the ruthless streak at the heart of the 2008 world champion's character.
'Dad will miss being here,' said Hamilton, 'but it was me who initiated the break. 'He's got other things to focus on, but I don't want my dad to be my manager any more. I will at some stage have a new manager, but I am in no rush.
He's still taking care of a lot of stuff, but he's slowly backing out.'
